How does the local support group help sufferers?


By joining a local support group it gives sufferers the opportunity to create a network of people who can assist each other by sharing treatment information, personal experiences and offering emotional support. Meeting other people who are dealing with the syndrome this can alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness both of which are contributing factors to depression and anxiety.

The Southern Highlands Fibromyalgia Support Group has been in operation for 1.5 years offering help and emotional support for sufferers of Fibromyalgia.

Overview
The coordinator of the support group, Lynn Griffiths, is a fibromyalgia sufferer herself and this gives a high level of compassion and understanding from the leader of the group. The monthly meetings are held every second Friday of the month at midday and are open to sufferers and their families and friends.
